March 14, 2013 Desmond Tutu Desmond Tutu has used his status as arch bishop of the Anglican Church of South Africa as voice for the oppressed on a global basis. Coming into world view with his work to undo apartheid in South Africa, he has worked to create a framework of anti-oppression work (or a pedagogy of hope as Paulo Freire would place it).
