Gathering and other works at Frank Brockman Gallery

I have a handful of paintings up at Frank Brockman Gallery (68 Maine Street, Second and Third Floor, Brunswick Maine (USA)).  A few of them are from the Dr. Goodweather's Dreaming Attic show.  They just stuck around and another is been waiting for the right time to make it's way  into the gallery.  This evening (August 8, 2014) is the Second Friday Art Walk here in Brunswick Maine.  There will be roving musicians and little pop-up galleries and I think a play in the mall by the big Gazebo...

I will be there with my white wig and red kimono and black box.  Say hello to me if you see me.  The spiders in my hair only look scary.

The following two pieces are usually at Frank's as he likes them.  They move around from place to place in the gallery.

Get lost in the magical haze of a show beyond your wildest dreams.
Art by Andrew Abbott, Seth Dussault, John "Sighless" Supinski, Kevin Gallagher, William Hessian, Baxter Koziol, Bridget McAlonan, Gabrielle McGuire, and Abbeth Russell.
Live music by Wes Covey (The Ten Thousand Things) and Laughing Animal.
Curated by Abbeth Russell.

The music will last for one night on July 11, but the visual will be on from May 31 to July 15.  Hours are capricious but oh so worth it!

Works in Person (October 2013 Shows)

If you are in Maine this month, you will have a couple of chances to see my work in person.  I have a showing of works up at the Little Dog Coffee House in Brunswick Maine.  This show, called "Creatures" features about 12 paintings of mixed media paintings.  All the paintings, of course have various creatures as the subjects.  The Little Dog Coffee House is located at 87 Maine Street in Brunswick and is open between 6 am and 6 pm.

Things that Bind Us are Immaterial

While you are in Brunswick, you should cross the street, Maine Street that is and see is The Frank Brockman Gallery and Belt Shop is open.  I have several pieces up in Frank's space including my Cat Collective Uprising series and the painting "Things that Bind Us are Immaterial."

Frank Brockman Gallery is located at 68 Maine Street on the 2nd and 3rd Floors.  His hours are catch as catch can but usually he is around on Fridays.  Also, he is one of the sweetest people around.  So there.

And finally, go down to Portland to the Meg Perry Center while it is still in its current location 644 Congress Street.  The show "The Secret City of the Absent Sane" is not to be missed.  This show is FILLED with amazing art.  I have three puppet based pieces there.

The Meg Perry Center is an amazing place.  The show up now was curated by Abbeth Russell and William Hessian of the Hidden Ladder Collective.  This group of artists is an vibrant crew who play off one another in true collaborative fashion.  The works shown together create a synergy that is somewhat surreal and dreamlike while playful, crass AND innocent.  I love these people!

I hope you stop by and see some of my work in person if you are able.  I'd love to know what you think. Drop me a line!

Life is a Gas at Frank Brockman Gallery

"Life is a Gas" has been hung at Frank Brockman Gallery in Brunswick, Maine.  This lovely gallery at 68 Maine Street has an incredible space on its third floor.  The bones of the building stand out.  The walls are worn.  This offers an excellent canvas for my works from the "Antoinette Gasmask" series and Jessica Beebe's "Last One Standing" series.

Together these works and this space offer a circular story line about being female in a misogynist culture.  It offers up the defeat of living in a world with microaggressions like the drone on a white noise: you do not realize it is there until it is gone.

Hours at Frank Brockman Gallery are generally Fridays and some Saturdays and Sundays.  There will be an artists' reception on June 14 from 5 to about 7 in the evening.  The exhibition will run until June 30, 2013.
