Pushing the image with a blade
For now I am going to continue making both at least one paper doll and one drawing per day. Perhaps these endeavors won't be as publicly executed as they have in the past, but I feel like I can't stop.
I need to push the dolls to whatever it is they are worming themselves into down deep in my psyche. They are trying to say...I am trying to say something with this media and I can't quite figure it out yet. Perhaps I want to push all the saccharine out of the imagery of the dolls and have them be something else...something stronger and slightly menacing.
I have continued drawing but it is private and perhaps not as focused. I pull images from last years crops of drawings to hone down further and finer...waiting for when they will be ready for the larger page...ready for more time.
These paper dolls have forced me to think in terms of pattern and composition. The lines that the scissors cut are more a a commitment than the line that the pencil scribes. This forces me to visualized the doll before it is done, which is something I don't have to do while drawing or even painting. This is good for now.
And for now Rabbit Rabbit.
